Yea,
and my presence shall be there, for I will come into it, and all
the pure in heart that shall come into it shall see God. Doctrine
and Covenants 97:16 And we ask thee, Holy Father, that thy servants
may go forth from this house armed with thy power, and that thy
name may be upon them, and they glory round about them, and thine
angels have charge over them. Doctrine and Covenants 109:22 |

As we travel through
this life we all experience the storms of adversity that cloud
our vision and dampen our spirits. Our temple stands as a fortress
in that storm as a symbol of peace and refuge. It symbolizes our
desire for eternal life. We know that as we strive to keep our
eye on eternal goals and live with an eternal perspective that
we will be led by the light of Christ through our darkest hours.
The light of Christ is symbolized by the light around the temple.
May we so live our lives that others will see the light of Christ
reflected through us. Just as the people in this image are focusing
on the eternities, some walking forward with faith and others
taking the time to reflect on the blessings that are ours, we
need to do the same. The reflections in the puddles remind us
to take the time needed to reflect on the blessings in our lives.
The temple gives us the opportunity to focus on the eternal perspective,
to receive personal guidance and to feel the Spirit. As we travel
through this storm we are protected by the good news of the gospel
knowing that shining through all the storms of this life is the
everlasting light of Christ.
The Temple represents a safe refuge
of peace and hope when the world is full of Turmoil. This is a
place of prayer, worship and learning. A time where we can reflect
on our eternal goals and receive the personal revelation we need.
The storm in the painting represents the trials of our individual
lives, those times when our vision may be clouded by the distraction
and afflictions of this world.
The light surrounding the Temple represents the light of this
world, our Savior. It surrounds the Temple to remind us that “His
presence shall be there”. That presence gives us direction
back home.
The umbrellas symbolize the protection the gospel can bring from
some of the worlds storms if we choose to live by the doctrines
taught.
The red umbrella represents how the atonement provides covering
and protection for the storms of life we must face so that we
may progress.
The reflective puddles remind us of who we are and who we are
meant to become. They also remind us to reflect on all the things
that are good in our life.
